Lazy Sunday
OK, not really. I was trying to finish a bag for a swap when Erik informed me that he and Simon were wrestling! I had to see it for myself.


Also of note: Simon "slept through the night" last night! Which means he slept for a 5 hour stretch before waking up! Unfortunately, I stayed up late knitting so I really didn't get to fully appreciate it. We're experimenting with nighttime diapering. I believe he's waking up a lot at night because he's wet and in my sleep-deprived stupor I just keep giving him the boob when what he'd really like is a dry diaper. So last night we had him in a Bum-Genius diaper - he woke up less, but his PJs were wet in the morning...so I'm thinking that diaper plus a wool soaker would be awesome. Gotta get knittin', yo.

That's such a beautiful video, I couldn't help but to smile while I watched it :)

Can I ask what you stuffed the BG diaper with? I've never had one leak even after 14 hours. I'm assuming it was the OS pocket?

I've heard some people say that if their kid is a side sleeper it tends to leak quite often until they get bigger - like the second row of snaps. Have you tried adding a hemp doubler in there? Overnights I'll either add a hemp doubler or put two inserts in there.

Oh! He does sleep on his side later in the night after waking up to nurse. I'll try a doubler - but at the same time I put him in a regular prefold diaper last night and no leaks! So I guess it varies quite a bit.

You could always try just adding a prefold to the BG if you don't have any doublers. It's because of the leg elastic that some side sleepers leak with BG's. He should grow out of that problem in a few months.

I have always had trouble with the BGs leaking at night ... especially when Rosemary was smaller.

Do you have any doublers? (This is a doubler, in case you don't know what they are)

We always have to use doublers at night. But ... until Rosemary was at least a year, we had to change her at least once a night. As a newborn, we changed her a few times a night. I still even have to change her at night ... depending on how much I've let her drink before going to bed.

(I'd comment on how cute the video is, but I, sadly, can't see it at work.)

I don't have a doubler, they didn't have any at the store I went to. So I just got the BG to try out. The weird thing is last night we had him in a regular diaper, like in the daytime, and it didn't leak at all!? So it seems like a bit of a crapshoot. ha. ha.
